DR. CAROLINE NASAMBU WAFULA

Dr. Caroline Nasambu Wafula is a Clinical pharmacist specialized in Pediatrics and Oncology and practices at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH). She graduated from The University of Nairobi where she had undertaken her undergraduate degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm), Master of Pharmacy degree in Clinical Pharmacy (Pediatrics and Oncology) and Master of Business Administration (Strategic Leadership option). She is currently a member of the National Scientific and Ethics Committee (NACOSTI), a member of JOOTRH Institutional Ethics Review Committee, Director of Research and Training at JOOTRH, Head Consultant Clinical Pharmacy Services at JOOTRH; honorary lecturer of Clinical Pharmacology and Clinical Toxicology at Maseno and Uzima Universities, Kenya. She is skilled and knowledgeable in the practice of clinical pharmacotherapeutics and research. She has so far published three manuscripts; all in implementation science. Currently, she is working on a research on antimicrobial resistance and sensitivity patterns at JOOTRH to ensure patient safety. Other than JOOTRH, she has also worked in two different hospitals; Kisumu County Referral Hospital as an intern and Kenyatta National Hospital as a resident doctor. Further still, she has trained health care workers nationally as a mentor in HIV/AIDS/TB care, Malaria Case Management, Pharmacovigilance, Commodity Management and Supply Chain Management and currently Infectious Disease Management. During her fifteen years of pharmacy practice, she has not had any medication case error referred to the pharmacy and poisons board against her. She is married with two daughters and a son. During her free time, she enjoys reading story books, poetry, and socializing.
